MARCIA AFTIMUS
Quem sou eu
About
’m Marcia Aftimus, a Brazilian-born visual artist whose work explores the connection between art, emotion and human experience. Throughout my life journey, I have come to understand art as more than the creation of an image. For me, art can become a way of giving form to emotions, memories and experiences that are not always easy to express in words. This understanding has gradually shaped the way I work. Alongside my own artistic practice, I create experiences and programs where I can work closely with people, particularly one-on-one or in small groups, offering creative guidance and a supportive space for personal expression. Rather than focusing only on technique or on the finished artwork, I am interested in the process: what emerges when a person feels free to bring their own story, emotions and experiences into what they create. I am also the creator of The World Beyond the Surface, an art project developed for healthcare and hospice environments, with works created for a hospital in Duncan and for Cowichan Hospice. Today, my work continues to evolve around what has become central to me as an artist: using creativity to create space for emotion, reflection, expression and human connection.
